New short: slow process

Gilad Foss and I have broken ground on our new comic short, FINALLY. After a series of set backs, rewrites, casting snafu's and more we knocked out the majority of the voice over. Gilad gave a great performance in the lead role and it felt great to direct again. It's been a while - to long. We should be able to knock out the rest of the VO sometime this month. By that point I should have some character art to show as well. -J Lost Monster Hop

The National Film Board of Canada is known for producing some of the best short and independent, animation in the history of the art form. Their program, Hothouse 4, brought together six emerging filmmakers from Canadian and two from Brazi to spend three months creating a very short film based on the theme “Chance Encounter.” These films are now online. I recommend taking a peek. The work is short and the animation is inventive. They also have a podcast. -Jeff Vacation....

For those wondering... I'm on vacation. I had planned to continue posting; but, that doesn't seem to be happening. Stay subscribed to the RSS feed. I'll be back soon enough. Cheers. Wallabee: Rocking the Boat

Captain Wallabee and Stumpy rock the boat a little too much. I think this is the best episode so far. This went from being a script to being finished and online in 8 days. This is the fastest turn around yet. I think that I was successful in putting the characters in conflict, trapping them in a single location, making the comedy game build, and also including a balanced satirical element along with sophomoric humor. Oh yeah, and the master is in HighDef. DOWNLOAD: high quality for your ipod Please leave feedback and select a star rating. Be Wallabee's Friend on Myspace! Wallabee: The First Time

It's time for another adventure! It's Wallabee's "First Time!" I've very happy with how this turned out, even if it took far to long to finish. I first wrote about producing this short on 4/11/07 and expected to knock it out really fast. Sadly, work and freelancing caught up with me and slowed down the production. Eventually I got some free time and did the animation over two days. I animated this in high-def (1280x720p 24fps). The file I have uploaded is a smaller scale (640 wide). All you iPod/AppleTV owners will be happy to know that the file will play on both the video iPod and on the AppleTV. Captain Wallabee and his first mate Stumpy share a few choice words while discussing censorship. I wrote the script for this on Monday the 5th of March, recorded voices on Tuesday, and began blocking it out and animating it shortly thereafter. Less than two weeks after writing the script I had it online. I’m really happy with the speed I knocked this one out. Hopefully you will like it too. I really struggled with getting a second episode made. I had completed another “Adventure” but ended up deciding not to post it because, well, it wasn’t that funny. I want these to be really good. I made this video right before the 2004 election. At the time I was making videos with a political slant about once a month. This was the first of what would later become the BUSH series. I decided to take it out of the vault and to share it once again. Did you vote? • Download this free video to iTunes & your iPod • Subscribe to this podcast feed: The Adventures of Captain Wallabee!
